State of the Erin

It’s been more than a year since I posted. Again. Sic semper me, and websites.

Some things have changed since I made that post:

  • SV Solitaire is no longer in Houston.

  • Joe Biden is now President of the United States, which is a marginal improvement but one that has mattered

  • I changed jobs again and am back at NASA JSC EG, though this time I’m primarily working with EG4 instead of EG6. Though I have been roped back into RPOP support for OFT2. Mad props to Chris Foster for actually escaping that black hole of a project.

  • I am learning to crack safes, thanks to Sophie’s Safecracking Simulator and (soon) a practice safe from Sparrows Lockpicks. It is surprisingly fun in a meditative way in the simulator. I hope the real thing holds up (I have no idea how I’ll listen to the safe IRL).

Some things have not changed:

  • There is still a global pandemic, though there are vaccines now (and I am vaccinated). Case rates in TX and the greater Houston metro area have sort of leveled off at still not-great-but-not-terrible numbers, but there is a new more virulent variant flying about and people are acting like it’s over when it really isn’t (including me, to an extent, since I’m vaccinated and so are most of my friends) and…well. It’s not really a surprise I guess.

  • N9FC has still not flown. The previous owner offered to buy it back at one point, but at a price far too low for me to bite, and so it has sat stationary at Pearland for a looooooooooong time. I still don’t quite have the spoons to coordinate with the shop to get it flying again. I think that will happen, though.
